See icon for new fandom - in case you are unfamiliar, it's Cowboy Bebop. I love Ed.

I first saw Cowboy Bebop...oh, several years ago. And I always really enjoyed it. But during downtime I had during finals week, I decided to rewatch the series...and I don't know, something within me stirred, felt so drawn to it, and I've been obsessing ever since. I can't stop rewatching random episodes; I've been hunting down icons, listening to the soundtrack, and looking up fanar, not to mention I have read easily over 70 stories over on fanfiction.net (would you believe there are actually SO MANY GOOD fics there? CB has a good fandom...sure, they have their share of badfics!, but I've found so many good ones, I am thrilled).

Oh, and seriously, I cry everytime I so much as think of the last episode. Seriously. Spike Spiegel is my new fictional love interest; he's such an amazing multi-dimensional character and I have so much love for him. But, I love all the characters; Jet, Faye, Ed, Ein. T

Anyway, my point in saying this is now I'm stuck in the fandom, and will likely be concentrating on it for a while. And writing fic!

It's the twentieth anniversary of the first Simpsons episode today. Who is your favorite Simpsons character—Ralph? Sideshow Bob? Ned Flanders? An actual Simpson?

Ralph. Definitely, the dude is so freaking hilarious. "It tastes like...burning!"

I like Bart too, though. He's pretty awesome.

So, here I am, before two weeks of finals with a 12 page paper due...and I spent my evening by YouTubing videos and watching "Sleeping Beauty" with my fellow RAs. May I just say, DAMN, Prince Phillip, you are so fucking badass. And hot.

He's my favorite Prince. XD

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

In February I signed my organ donor card (28 points). Last Tuesday I got in line at the supermarket at the same time as someone else and I didn't yield (-8 points). Last Saturday I helped </a></b></a>[info]cotume27 hide a body (-173 points). Last Sunday I punched </a></b></a>[info]endorphinehaze in the arm (-10 points). Last Monday I stole </a></b></a>[info]optimal_flow's purse (-30 points).

Overall, I've been naughty (-193 points). For Christmas I deserve a spanking!

So, I don't normally get political on here, BUT...this Newsweek think with Sarah Palin is pissing me off:

Basically, Newsweek sent out an issue with Palin on the cover. Supposedly, the picture was "unretouched".

So, they have the right to get mad over the cover story - like, that's their prerogative. But, getting mad over  the fact that her picture wasn't retouched?

That pisses me off.

Because here they are, supporting this candidate simply mainly because she's a woman and they've made such a big deal about her being a woman, and yet, in order to be respected she MUST be retouched (like teh supermodelz)? Honestly, this should be a POSITIVE thing - she is BEAUTIFUL (yeah, I admit it) without the photo being retouched. She should use this as an opportunity to reach out to women and say "yeah, it's okay to be who you are, and be in love with your physical imperfections."

But no. They aren't taking this opportunity to do such a thing, not trying to twist it around to say "yeah, so what if they didn't retouch, GOOD FOR HER". It's all about positive body image. Instead, they are throwing a fit, saying it's a biased cover, and being dumbasses for saying that women can only be proud to have their faces on the cover of magazines as long as their photos are retouched.

I think it's a sad and wasted opportunity.

(Sorry if this is scrambled and all over the place, I'm tired and outraged...for different reasons than Fox news, though.)

for the link phobic )

Author Stephenie Meyer, writer of the best-selling young adult "Twilight" books, has put the fifth and final installment in the series on hold in protest after a partial draft was posted on the Internet.

Meyer, the U.S. author of "Twilight" and its sequels "New Moon," "Eclipse" and "Breaking Dawn," said she had a good idea of how the leak of "Midnight Sun" had happened as so few copies had left her hands and each was unique.

The novel tells the love story of a human teenager named Bella and her vampire lover, Edward.

"The manuscript that was illegally distributed on the Internet was given to trusted individuals for a good purpose. I have no comment beyond that, as I believe that there was no malicious intent with the initial distribution," she wrote in a posting on her website.

But Meyer, 34, said this was a huge violation of her rights of an author as well as her rights as a human being as she owned the copyright and had the say when the book should be made public.

She said musicians and filmmakers also had the same rights and it was dishonest of anyone to download material off the Internet and to reproduce and distribute it.

"This has been a very upsetting experience for me, but I hope it will at least leave my fans with a better understanding of copyright and the importance of artistic control," wrote Meyer.

"I feel too sad about what has happened to continue working on "Midnight Sun," and so it is on hold indefinitely."

Meyer said the draft that was released on the Internet was incomplete with messy and flawed writing but she was making this draft available to everyone to be a fair and because it added a new dimension to the "Twilight" story.

...I'm so happy, I could cry, But instead, I'll just laugh.

(Sorry fans of Twilight. But, I feel no pity for you... nothing personal.)

EDIT:

Oh, and "Midnight Sun"? Really, Stephanie? That sounds like the title of a really bad fanfic.

Why, fandom, do you attack me when I simply DON'T HAVE TIME TO DEAL WITH YOU?

So, I only just found the awesomeness that is the community [info]10_shakespeare . And I was instantly attacked by the urge to claim FFIV with Othello... tell me that would not be amazingness in it's potential.

Must. Resist. Urge.

Life Update

Zelda
So, between school and being an RA, my ass is getting kicked. Royally. Not that I'm not enjoying it, I am - particularly being an RA; for Halloween/until Christmas, my theme is totes going to be "The Nightmare Before Christmas"; at Halloween, I'm just gonna have the Halloweentown Characters, but as Christmas draws nearer, it's going to morph into more "Christmas-y" stuff. I'm stoked! - but nonetheless, a lot of time and effort is being consumed by my job and homework. Which leaves me little time to be online, or even write...which is sad. I really WANT to write...but, with all my assignments, I just haven't been able to. :( On top of that, I have an audition for a play tomorrow.

...It's a good thing I have relatively good time management skills...

In other news, I saw Tropic Thunder recently. Holy shit, that stuff is fucking hilarious. Robert Downey Jr, plz marry me, kthx.

List of stories I need to do when I have time:

FFIV/IX crossover fic for Jamie (NO I HAVEN'T FORGOTTEN. IT PLAGUES THE BACK OF MY MIND - EVERYDAY)
FFIX Blank claim for [info]madain_sari
Some pieces for Phoenix Monthly (I'm so stoked that one of my drabbles was picked last time around...hopefully, it won't be such a last minute thing this time and I'll be able to contribute something more substantial...)
FFIV fic (I can't stop reading it, so I suppose I might as well WRITE it)

On my to do list/life in general:

Read NON-school books/non-fanfiction stuffs. Like good novels. I have A Confederacy of Dunces sitting on my bookshelf...I need to get to it.
Buy seasons 1 and 2 of PSYCH. I love that show. LOVE IT.
Start doing my Halloween decorations. Yeah, I know, it's the beginning of September...but that shit's gonna take a long time to finish... >_>

Greatest FFIV moment, easily

Really, Target? Really? Why is it that NONE of the three locations nearest to me have FFIV!? What is wrong with you? You little bitch, you're not honestly going to make me drive all the way to a Game Stop, are you, because if you do...

>:-[

It's bad enough I'm out of FF games to play. I just finished FF3 for the DS, re-finished 12, nearly maxed out the Sphere Grid in 10, and my stupid PS1 memory card decided to be a little bitch when I restarted FF9 (possibly my favorite game ever! Well, tied with 12). Seriously, I got four hours in, and then WHOOPS LET'S CORRUPT YOUR DATA BECAUSE DOING SHIT LIKE THAT IS FUN!

Grrr.

Yay for ficlets!

Been writing again - for Super Smash brothers. My one fic that started off as a one-shot has decided to become epic!fic, so that's not going to be finished any time soon, but I DID finish a total, complete CRACK one-shot. Not beta'ed, only kind of proof-read, but I WROTE SOMETHING. It's a start.

And parts of it made me laugh. So, as long as I'm entertaining myself at least...

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4395923/1/

:-D

It's crack. It's so cracky it's not even funny (except I hope it is...). But I'm mildly happy with it. I'll likely re-read and actually edit it tomorrow, but it just felt good finally posting something again, y'know?

HAHAHAH LMAO AHAHAHAHA!

Agrias
So, my PSP is still broken, and I'm lazy and haven't gotten around to calling Sony about getting it replaced (since it still is under warranty, until at least October or November), and I'm itching to play Tactics.

So, I'm laying here in bed, kind of getting ready to sleep but not really, and mulling over Tactics. And then it hits me:

Balthier/Agrias probably would be like Balthier/Ashe, only slightly on crack. But the crack would be yummy. WANT.

I have to do some googling/fandom sifting now...

EDIT:

Balthier/Meliadoul might even be better.

EDIT EDIT:

Agrias/Balthier/Meliadoul OT3! <3

Also, Atonement was, as Jamie put it, soul-crushingly good. More <3.

EDIT EDIT EDIT:

As I was googling, I was reminded of the love that is Mustadio/Agrias. The result?

Balthier/Agrias/Mustadio/Meliadoul OT4!

Someone write this Someone write this. Or someone kick me in the ass to write this.

So fucking good it hurts.

EDIT:

Why can't I sleep? Seriously, I surfed the  net for a good two hours, and then read several chapters of "Atonement"...I was feeling sufficiently sleepy, but once I got into bed, it went away. I don't approve.

Ganked from [info]katmillia. 'Twas fun.

1. Bold the ones you have read.
2. Italicize the ones you plan to read
3. Underline the ones you love

EDIT:

Atonement complete. Now it's off to The Kite Runner and A Confederacy of Dunces.
